Rights Terms & Conditions

Standard Licence Terms

All translation and rights licences issued by Futures Publishing follow our standard terms unless otherwise negotiated. Key points:

  • Licences are territory- and language-specific
  • Standard term: 7 years from the date of first publication in the licensed territory
  • Translation advances are payable on contract signature and on publication
  • Royalty rates on net receipts: 6–8% for print editions; 20–25% for e-book editions (territory dependent)
  • Translation income is shared 50/50 between Futures Publishing and the author
  • Translated editions must display the original title, author name, and Futures Publishing credit
  • Licensees must supply two physical copies of the translated edition upon publication

Co-Edition Agreements

For illustrated, art, or reference titles where a foreign publisher wishes to co-produce rather than translate, co-edition terms are available. These are negotiated on a case-by-case basis and typically involve minimum print run commitments and shared production costs. Contact our Rights Manager to discuss.

Film, TV & Dramatic Adaptation

Dramatic adaptation rights for most titles remain with the author. Where Futures Publishing has been appointed to represent these rights, they will be indicated in the catalogue entry. All enquiries should be directed to rights@futurespublishing.com and will be forwarded to the author or their agent.

We are open to co-agent arrangements with established literary agencies and scouts. If you represent a territory on an ongoing basis and would like to discuss a co-agency relationship, please contact our Rights Manager directly.
